Quality Technician - CMM

Job Type: Full time, permanent

Job Duties:

  • Programming and operating of CMM used to verify the dimensional accuracy of component parts.
  • Recording inspection results and the preparation and distribution of reports pertaining to such inspection results
  • Utilizing vernier, micrometers, height gauges, feeler gauges, and go/no-go gauges
  • Reading blue print drawings to understand customer needs and check products accordingly
  • Evaluate whether parts comply with customer documentation, specifications, CAD models and dimensions for fit, form, function, hardware assembly, 3D part profiles, alignment, and machining; including verifying tolerances
  • Development of CMM (Laser Tracker) programs, and operation, using Poly Works Software to ensure accurate measurement of parts
  • Identify possible areas of non-conformance in process for internal rework or NCR (Non-Conformance Reporting) when required.
  • Generate FAI (First Article Inspection) reports including bubble drawings, measurements, collecting certifications and detailing for non-conformance
  • Generate measurement reports for final inspection
  • Communicate with other department leads regarding in-process inspection to identify and correct any issues that may be occurring in production

Qualifications:

  • Strong reading, writing, oral communication and effective listening are essential skills
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment and produce excellent quality work consistently
  • Must be safety focused, a self-starter, highly organized, and able to work well within all levels of a fast-paced organization
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Understanding of CAD modeling and programming, including 3D space and orientations. Polyworks experience an asset.
  • 1-2 years experience in operating a CMM or Laser Tracker (Experience with Leica laser tracker or other measuring arm would be considered an asset).
